Who we are
ToxTech Productions are an independent filmmaking community developed and based in Liverpool (UK). The company is a CIC registered non-profit organisation.
My name is Andy Bourne and I am the Company Director of ToxTech Productions CIC. I’m also the founder of The ‘CGL St Helens Film group’, which we established in 2021. The group initially met weekly, and we were set up to support people who were struggling with drug and alcohol issues to develop recovery through creativity.
I am currently studying my MA in Film and television at Falmouth University online, and live and work in Liverpool.
I have experience of writing, directing and producing films, and I am a Certified Adobe Professional in Premiere Pro, After Effects and Audition.
Statement
As a documentary and experimental filmmaker, I delve deep within my own personal, creative psyche, using the moving image to produce work that is visceral, uncompromising, with narratives that strike directly at hearts and minds.
I use film to highlight the human experience of pain and struggle, alongside celebrating the things that make us human, beautiful and unique, albeit often flawed and vulnerable.
I use themes which look into the pain and challenges of life. Grief and bereavement, individual or societal isolation and exclusion, mental health, substance use and visible and invisible disability. I have strong values and beliefs around challenging social injustice, for telling the stories of those often marginalised, those with little or no voice, or anyone that struggles to be heard
I immerse myself into the depths of my own psyche, my own nightmares, fears and challenges to lay bare my own vulnerability. I highlight the divisions, prejudice, and struggles faced by people whilst highlighting a life that is also affirming and filled with beauty.
I work with subjects and themes in an uncompromising and unflinching way, never shying away from portraying the horror of a life faced by many, whilst representing the need for hope, building resilience, and highlighting the strength and ability that is in everyone.
I open myself up to self-challenge and being vulnerable, so I am able to try better understand, learn, reflect on my own biases, privilege and prejudice to establish a creative style which can be used to challenge, question, reach out and embrace diversity, and to genuinely make a difference.
“A powerful style makes this unforgettable and impactful. A call to action to change these stigmas of addiction.”
